On Private Property: Stay on the Trail

When riding on private property that snowmobilers are fortunate enough to access during the winter, it’s important to stay on the designated trail. Choosing not to do so can damage the experience for everyone and may result in charges for any harm caused.

In February, a snowmobiler not only entered a roped-off section of trail but also disregarded the landowner’s efforts to protect their business. As a result, approximately $20,000 worth of trees were damaged at the property, which operates as a nursery. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether this trail will be available again next year.

The Saco Pathfinders Snowmobile Club, the Maine Snowmobile Association, and Maine Operation Game Thief are taking this matter very seriously. They are offering a combined reward of $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible.

If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Maine Warden Service at 207-624-7076.
