The Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, WI recently hosted their annual Classic Sled Roundup May 27, 2012. Aside from a large gathering of good looking old buggies, the event marked the date for a long awaited drawing for a 1978 replica Arctic Cross Country snowmobile meticulously restored by Brian Nelson (like the one pictured here driven by Nelson himself in last winter’s I-500 vintage class). Nelson won the legendary Winnipeg to St. Paul I-500 aboard the same said sled in 1978 (and again previously in 1976 riding a John Deere). While members of the OSM staff were bummed our names were not retrieved from the rotating bin, John Lumnah was a happy boy after his name was called for not only the grand prize, but the runner up prize as well consisting of a vacation package at Black Bear Lodge in St. Germain. Ed Schultz collected the final prize, two tickets for this coming winter’s Ride with Champs event. Proceeds from the drawing benefit the Snowmobile Hall of Fame.
